Hi, my name is Louise Lederman and I am the founder of Lotus Counselling.
I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I provide a safe, warm and non judgemental space to explore any difficulties you may be facing with no pressure to be anything other than yourself.
As an Integrative Therapist, I work with different psychological modalities in order to work holistically with my clients. Everyone’s journey is unique, so there is no set structure.
For me the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between us. This is central to the work that we will do. I will see you as a whole person, rather than the issues you bring and hope to empower you to make positive changes in your life at your own pace.
I believe we all have a deep need to be understood and heard; the feeling that another human being simply gets you.
It takes courage to make this first step in seeking support and I appreciate the need to find the right person to aid you on your journey. With this in mind, before deciding if we are going to work together, I recommend that we have an initial meeting, where you can learn more about me and I can start to understand your needs.
I welcome people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, sexualities, gender identities, ethnicities and abilities.
As a registered member of the BACP, I am bound by its Code of Ethics and my work is supervised by a senior practitioner.
What to Expect
During our time together I will aim to increase your level of self-understanding and perspective. This will allow you to deal with problems and issues you may face more effectively.
An increased sense of empowerment may be experienced, learning how to relate differently and finding ways to be comfortable with yourself and the people in your life.
I aim to facilitate a journey of self discovery, to help you find out who you are, address any issues that may be troubling you and look at what you want out of life.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, with a core belief in humanistic, person-centred principles. I use a variety of theory and techniques to enable you to explore yourself in a way which has meaning for you as an individual. Even in the most hopeless feeling space, change is possible. These include: Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis.
Mindfulness is particularly useful in dealing with stress and anxiety and involves some simple yet very effective techniques; these can be easily learnt, but take time to perfect – I can help you practice and learn.
What you want to achieve from counselling is my priority and I will bring in appropriate ideas and techniques to suit you.
Ultimately my aim is to to help you make any changes you feel are important to allow you to enjoy life, achieve your goals and feel fulfilled.
At times, the work may feel difficult or challenging, but you will be able to explore and share your thought and feelings with me, in a safe and supportive space. I will aim to make it as comfortable and productive as possible, whilst at the same time maintaining the boundaries of good practice.
